10 minutes walk (700m) from the harbour slipway, located on the beach front, this relaxed beach restaurant and terrace offers a varied menu with a great choice of seafood and delicious burgers. La Potiniere has been a favourite of Seafaris customers and crew for many years, well worth visit for those that have not been. Very busy at weekends with happy hour and gets the late evening sun, casual but very cool vibe! Book in advance.

 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

  1. Market: Thursday’s 08:00-14:00 all year round, found here.

  2. Walking: 2km (4km circuit) up to the Cap de Carteret (here) to see the lighthouse (1hr 15min minimum circuit). From the harbour slipway follow the coast around past La Potiniere beach and up the coastal pathway to admire the beautiful views of the Channel Islands. Come back down the road into the town.

  3. Public toilets: Found here.

  4. Supermarket: Carrefour Market 45 minute walk (3.5km) from the harbour slipway. Found here.

  5. Bike rental: Le Suroît shop  Location

They speak English. There is a cycle route going from Carteret to Port Bail, 8km (approx 45 mins)

LE MOULIN A VENT DU CORENTIN

45 minutes cycle from Carteret’s harbour.

Location

Dating back to 1744 and renovated in 1997, the Cotentin windmill is one of the few remaining examples of a working mill. Come and learn about how flour is made, from the millers themselves. Many activities are organized around flour and bread for all ages in the shop and exhibition room in the barn.

 

DOMAINE DE RUGUEVILLE 

10 km, approx 40 minutes cycle ride from Carteret 

Location

As you enter the property, admire the pretty orchards and visit the shop which offers tasting of the Domaine’s products (cidre, apple juice, calvados, honey) 

 

GOLF DE LA COTE DES ILES 

An 18 hole course, beautifully located on the dunes with great views of the Cape de Carteret and Jersey.
